Consultations

Having a respiratory illness doesn’t mean you can’t live a full life. Learning to control asthma or manage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD) can make a huge difference to you and your family’s quality of life and reduce the risk of severe attacks and hospital admissions. Our Respiratory Nurse Educators provide free consultations either at our offices, or in your home, to help you take control and breathe easier. The goal of these consultations is to understand the current state of your, or your family member’s condition, as well as assessing lifestyle, environment and medication factors that may be affecting it. From there, we build you a management plan and provide education and advice to support you in your journey. Your self-management plan will help you to recognise when your breathing is getting worse and what to do for it.

Breathing Tests

Breathing tests check how well your lungs are working and identify normal and abnormal lung activity. This helps with diagnosis, monitoring progress of respiratory conditions and assists to support better management of your lungs. We provide these free of charge. The test is called Spirometry and it can measure many different things about how you breathe and the function of your lungs. If you are on medication, we will ask that you do not take this for several hours prior to your test so that we can get an accurate function reading. A doctor must refer you for this test however if you would like more information discuss with your doctor or contact us.
